Girls Night Out

Heartfelt passionate lyrics about love, loss, and the next emotional crisis dominate Boys Night Out's lyrical landscape. The group's verbal acrobatics are highlighted by intricate musical patterns and saccharine vocal melodies, replete with spot-on harmonization. The Canadian group has evolved from the standard so-called post-hardcore fare through more pop-driven moments and back out the other side to produce 2005's sort-of rock opera Trainwreck. Several years of relentless touring produced a few shakeups in the band itself, including the departure of longtime keyboardist Kara Dupuy, resulting in a distinctly more guitar-driven sound. The 2006 mockumentary DVD release, Dude, You Need to Stop Dancing, chronicled the breakup of the band, except — psych! — it never happened. Fans of highly melodic, lovey-dovey tragic tales will rejoice at this show.
