Creating art doesn’t have to be a solo affair; at least not at Wet Paint, the new weekly art night kicking off at the Lounge (517 Clematis St., West Palm Beach) Wednesday night. An extension of ArtRx – the quarterly gallery show that acts as a restorative salve for the local art scene – Wet Paint is an interactive exhibition where featured artists will get a bit of rock star treatment as they paint, sketch, spray, cut, paste, and print live on stage. For WP’s first week, local artist U.N.O. will conduct his painting on a rather unusual canvas: Clothing. Patrons that don’t mind a little paint on their duds can hop on stage and get tagged by U.N.O. starting at 9 p.m., while those looking to get wet in other ways can enjoy the 2-4-1 drinks all night. And since art begets art, the Lounge will spin an upbeat and eclectic mix of dance tunes sure to serve as inspiration. The weekly is booked solid through September 13, with artists Heather Tipton, Amanda Valdes, and Zak Kernan all holding court over the next three weeks. No cover. Visit www.myspace.com/artrxwpb.
Wednesdays, 9 p.m. Starts: Aug. 13. Continues through Dec. 31, 2008
