Despite his recent troubles with the law (See the October 6, 2005 issue of this publication), Keith Morile Michaud has found the strength to continue on his path. The Summer Blanket frontman's music keeps him going, enabling him to heal broken emotions and strained heartstrings. His stuff stands strongly on the shoulders of local-boy-made-good Chris Carraba and looks firmly in the direction of Devendra and Sufjan. Fans of the PBC-based folk/emo/psych unit remember its 2004 debut Charm Wrestling; meanwhile Michaud, the group's principal song writer, has continued to write and perform new numbers, expanding on his ideas of love, loss, and resolution. Summer Blanket seems to bear a blind witness to the affectations of modern relationships with infectious melodies and well-crafted songs. The future may be mopey for these guys, but then again, for us that's a good thing.
Summer Blanket plays at 9 p.m. Friday, March 17, at South Shore Tavern, 502 Lucerne Ave., Lake Worth. The show is free. Call 561-547-7656.
